Re: Outreach Ideas for the Lost, Last, and Least

Below I will copy the message I sent to the outreach committee at my local church. I am posting it here so that it may be shared among members of the church as well as other members of the outreach committee.

I am writing this note to you in response to your request for ideas about outreach - specifically regarding the Lost, Least, and Last.

Religious Persecution in a Cyber-Political World

We are at a turning point in society. Politically we are (hopefully) about to make ground breaking progress for the equality of homosexuality in the United States.

Spiritually I am involved in a movement called The Reformation Project to affirm homosexuality within Christianity.

Yet the right wing fundamentalists scream that these things are religious persecutions. They aren't. These things don't force anybody who is unwilling to accept or affirm homosexuality. If you don't want same sex marriage don't marry the same sex.

Homosexuality and the Bible - A Continuous Discussion

I wrote a blog post called Why you shouldn't use the Bible to judge homosexuality a while back. Since then I have become more involved and vocal about advocating for LGBT rights and affirmation. A great deal of that has to do with my interest in The Reformation Project (www.reformationproject.org) but it's also something that I enjoy researching. Because of a large amount of discussion that has been had lately I have decided to make a second article with a little bit more scriptural and historical depth than the last time.

Why You Shouldn't Use Religion to Judge Homosexuality

I was involved in an argument with somebody over facebook today. For those who know me this will come as no surprise at all. I am an avid “debater” particularly of politics and religion. And if you combine the two, well you’ve hit my sweet spot, and are likely to heat me up quickly.

Jesus the Radical

What does the word “radical” mean to you? Does it mean talking about the norm and slowly changing something? Do you think that Jesus wanted to go through the hoops and sit on committees where nobody understood each other, and misquoted each other, and re-iterated each other’s ideas like they were new?

Resonate Jesus is a Community of Good Sense.

We are a progressive thinking Christian community striving to bring Christianity back to its roots: Jesus Christ's greatest commandment.
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37-39
There is nothing more important about being a Christian than following those commandments to the best of your abilities.
